Welcoming foreigners? Which foreigners are we talking about here? Illegal workers, asylum seekers, illegal immigrants…? We have to recognise that our views are influenced by bills introduced by the French government, which, when conveyed to us by the French media become real burning social issues.

“The young, and the not-so-young – but all concerned about AIDS”
On 1 December, World AIDS Day, the City of Strasbourg organized a series of events to mark the renewed commitment on the part of everyone in the fight against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
The hosts at Ciarus played their part by creating a collective work of dense chalk on canvas.
Young photographers from Andorra at the Christmas market
6 high school students and three members of staff from the Ministry of Culture of the Principality of Andorra have been training at Ciarus as part of a cultural project. The EPIM (International Monument Photographic Experience) is organized every year by the Autonomous Community of Catalonia. The young people from the “land of the Pyrenees” produce a series of photographs and are judged on the results. The fruits of their labours are then rewarded by an official prize giving event at the Council of Europe and a stay in Strasbourg.

This summer three young French students stopped over at the Ciarus. The aim of their holiday was to make a trip to the East to discover the culture of that part of Europe. And, naturally, Strasbourg was on their itinerary.
Next to the seminaries....
The Ciarus is the venue chosen by the theology faculties of Heidelberg, Montpellier, and Strasbourg to launch their new research project. Rites, ethics, memory, community, and a host of other subjects to be investigated by way of "The religious expectations of our contemporaries".
