From the virtual to the reality… there is life before Ciarus
For the European Day of Languages, schools throughout Europe (fifty countries took part) sent themselves postcards on 26 September last. And so it was that Anna Luisa sent a reply to Brigitte.
Both language teachers, one at the Instituto Comprensido B. Lorenzi de Fumane, near Verona, and the other at the St Gabriel/St Michel school in St Laurent sur Sèvre in the Vendée.
Their aim was to create an exchange with a class from another European country. For this exchange, they used the e-twinning platform (an electronic twinning operation between European schools).
The French group had planned its stay at Ciarus as part of an assignment on Europe in January. So why not arrange an initial meeting there? They decided to meet up in Strasbourg, a city that symbolises the European Union.
Thanks to the blog created by the kids from the Vendée with the help of Joseph, the school librarian, the young Italians were able to get to know their pen pals. Culinary specialities from their own country gave the French kids a little taste of Italian culture.
