The festival's 10th birthday, that's a good reason to celebrate!

From 7 to 17 August, there are going to be things happening in the streets of Strasbourg with some amusing encounters in prospect!

The Street Arts Festival as we'll see it this summer is the fruit of 15 years of development. When it first started, parades were held every weekend from July to August in the pedestrianised streets of Strasbourg.

In response to their success, the idea occurred to organise shows that went on all week: the first “festival” was born.

First one company, then 6, then 8, to amount to 41 companies today who take over the squares, courtyards and streets of Strasbourg. To achieve this result, the organisers went to find out how it was done at other festivals and discover new artists as well as all of the logistical issues that such an event demands.

Result: the team at the CUS's events department got bigger too: Christophe Weishaupt and his colleague, Jean-Luc Bronner, now head up a team of 30 professionals.

The artists enjoy coming to the city each year, “one of the best organised street festivals in France” and the quality of the welcome they receive. Which makes us rather proud at Ciarus where the majority of the companies are accommodated. “It's nice to be able to off-load a little on accommodation professionals. It allows us to devote ourselves to organising the event at the various locations.”

Find the programme on the web or in the yellow guide (that you can find at Ciarus reception among other places!)
