Global Games 2009

Gathering from all over France, it was at Ciarus that the team from the FFSA (French Federation of Adapted Sport) met up before leaving all together for the Global Games in Liberek in the Czech Republic.
This competition, the equivalent of the paralympic games for mentally and psychologically deficient people, takes place every 4 years and, this year, brought together 850 athletes of 35 different nationalities from 5 to 14 July. The French team includes 75 athletes and 35 supervisors in 6 disciplines: football, basketball, swimming, table tennis, judo and athletics.
To see them off in style and wish them good luck, a human logo was formed on the Place de la Cathédrale. An event that brought together top sportsmen and women, amateur sportsmen and women, supervisors, volunteers, families, elected officials, technical executives, federal sports directors, a medical team and employees... all of them members of the FFSA, which includes more than 900 clubs and 41,000 qualified practitioners throughout France, developing sport as a means of personal fulfilment.
On their return, they had 8 medals in their luggage, 6 of which were awarded in table tennis!
