Inter Religion day

"How can religions live and work together in Alsace?"

This is the theme discussed on Sunday, 18 May at Ciarus in the context of the Alsace inter-religion day.

Behind this project supported by the Conseil Régional, religious representatives who want to foster and encourage openness to beliefs, practices, Mankind and the rites of other religions.

Around 170 people came to debate with Msgr Jean-Pierre Grallet, Archbishop of Strasbourg, Professor Jean-François Collange, President of the Union of Protestant Churches of Alsace and Lorraine, Chief Rabbi Mr Alain Weil, Professor Abdelamin Youyou, Director of Cultural Affairs of the Great Mosque of Strasbourg and Mr Olivier Reigen Wang-Ghen, President of the Buddhist Union of France.

Sharing ideas but also "sharing flavours" thanks to the pastries prepared by Le Pont, an inter-religious association whose aim is to work for the coming together of peoples and cultures in the respect of the identity and knowledge of each of them.

"Offering meeting places where everyone is welcome in the interests of sharing", "welcoming everyone in the respect of their religion, their differences and their convictions" are some of the values which make and on which Ciarus is founded. Allowing events like this one to find a place to express itself, this is our job as well.
