Treading the boards in English

Once a lawyer in Britain, Natasha Wood discovered Strasbourg while working at the European Court of Human Rights. She fell for Alsace in a big way and decided to set up home in the Rue Finkmatt quarter of the city. She and her husband decided that "this is where we want our children to grow up" and to return to their first love, the theatre.
.
Their plans matured and, last February, Natasha founded Jolly Good Show. The ambition of this association is to introduce young French people to English, with the theatre as an original language learning tool.
It was as a neighbour that Natasha chose Ciarus as the location for her summer school this year. "We had lunch at the restaurant with the children and discovered all the facilities at Ciarus. We really enjoyed the project". Dedicated mainly to young people, with an international outlook and the amenities required, Ciarus was the ideal location and the troupe rehearsed here for 15 days. The play was created from scratch by Mick Wood (director and Natasha Wood's husband) and adapted to the language skills of each participant, before being performed twice on 16 July last.
For the new season, the Wood family is not short of projects and wants to develop the association's activities: for young people, evening classes in theatre in English and presentations in schools; for the very young: introductions to the theatre in nursery schools; for adults, things are still at the planning stage but we'll doubtless see them at Ciarus.
