This unique place came into being through the will of SEMIS and the legacy of the YMCA, with the aim of creating a gateway to Europe for people from all walks of life. The construction was entrusted to architects Jules Berninger and Gustave Krafft, two of the most prominent figures in the local avant-garde movement. The architectural approach taken was based on symmetrical volumes with spaces conducive to exchange, a project driven by strong humanist values.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Since the late 19th century, 7 rue Finkmatt has come a long way. While the decor has changed, the project has retained the spirit and commitment of its innovators over the years, through wars, requisitions and all kinds of unforeseen events. In 1983, the creation of the CIARUS association came about through a unique and original partnership with SEMIS, which owns the site. This cooperation illustrates the desire to move forward, to respond pragmatically to social transformations and to create new ways of daily life.\n
\nThe partnership also helped preserve the distinctiveness of the space, open to people of all ages and backgrounds, whether from around the world or simply from the local neighbourhood. Today, CIARUS, with this rich heritage<\/b>, continues to rely on its founding values and pass them on. Openness and hospitality are part of its DNA, as is the mixing of generations and cultures. A place with a high emotional impact, CIARUS, with its delightfully old-fashioned charm, brings visitors back to the grand traditions of hospitality. One wing of the building, facing the back onto Rue du Foss\u00e9 des Treize, featured several meeting rooms for 10 to 200 people, as well as a large event hall. The wing of the building facing Rue Finkmatt was already, at that time, dedicated to accommodation.\n
\nMore than two centuries later, visitors are welcomed in a majestic yet unpretentious setting, through a reinterpreted hospitality concept.
